Helping Others
The mission of my Girl Scout Silver Award is to help people understand how important it is to help others in their community, provide ideas they can use, and provide places for them to start volunteering.
Why you should help
- More than 80% of food banks are feeding more people than they did a year ago
- 40% of people currently going to food banks have never gone to a food bank before
- Currently, 1 in 6 Americans could face hunger
- More people are currently in need due to job loss from Covid
- Low-wage workers have been more impacted
According to The Washinton Post, poverty rate has jumped 2.4 percentage points from June to November 2020, up to 11.7% - the biggest jump in a single year
